Back To The Studio- 2/9/16
The Company Stores are currently finishing up the writing process for their sophomore album, and are set to begin recording at Echo Mountain Studio in Asheville, NC by February. Echo Mountain is a phenomenal recording studio, nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Many incredible talents have worked there in recent years including The Avett Brothers, Zac Brown Band, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Widespread Panic. The album, untitled as of right now, will be released in the Summer of 2016.
“We are really focusing on the mood and the songwriting of this album, and making sure every track is at full potential.” says writer and guitarist Matthew Marks. “We want it to be a journey from the first track to the last.”
The band is experimenting with their sound, pulling modern electronic, trance, and dance oriented grooves and sounds into their roots rock base. Some of the tracks have already been heard by the handful of fans that have seen them live in the past couple months (So Good, Celebrate, Learn to Love, and Fall From Heaven). However, most of the songs have never been performed, and may not be, until the album is released.
On top of all that is going on, there is also a documentary style podcast being produced by Zack Harold of WV Focus Magazine about the making of TCS’ second album, and will be set to release a few weeks before the album.
When asked about the new album, percussionist John Query states “We’ve come a long way and learned a lot from our first album. Hopefully, our fans react to this one even more, and see what we are trying to accomplish musically. We have definitely poured a lot of thought, time, and effort into this one.”
